Jennet Thomas


Jennet Thomas is an artist who makes films, performances, and multi media sculptural installations.

Her work began as spoken word performance with projections for a live audience, and developed into a critical stew of filmic and performance languages. A co-founder of the Exploding Cinema Collective in the 1990’s, her numerous film works have screened extensively in the international Film Festival arena (Rotterdam, Oberhausen, New York Underground Film Festival)  Recent solo Gallery shows include  THE UNSPEAKABLE FREEDOM DEVICE at Grundy Gallery, 2015, SCHOOL OF CHANGE and  All Suffering SOON TO END at Matt’s Gallery  2012 and  2010. She is currently Senior Lecturer in Fine Art: Print and Time Based Media at Wimbledon College of Arts.
Her experimental fiction book ‘THE UNSPEAKABLE FREEDOM DEVICE’, that is a parallel project to the film of the same name, was published by Book Works in 2015.

Jennet was a mentor to Sophie Rogers (2017) and Tanoa Sasraku (2019).
